The South Carolina Chef Ambassador program was established in 2014 to promote South Carolina as a top culinary destination, highlighting the state’s talented chefs, creative recipes, authentic cuisines, locally grown produce, and unique products.
“Our Chef Ambassadors help us learn about our culinary heritage and promote Certified South Carolina,” said Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers. “Now more than ever, it’s crucial that South Carolinians and visitors support the state’s chefs – and the local farmers they rely on.”
One such South Carolina Chef Ambassador who shares in those values that Anderson Farms neighbors hold especially dear is Jason Tufts, who currently serves as Executive Chef at Malia’s, a locally-owned eatery in downtown Aiken, SC. At Dinner in the Orchard, Aiken-based South Carolina Chef Ambassador Jason Tufts will serve an unforgettable meal of refined new-American cuisine in a stunning outdoor location: family-owned Titan Farms, the largest peach farm on the East Coast, in Ridge Spring.
During the last weeks of what’s been a banner season for the Palmetto State’s orchards, guests will dine beneath twinkling lights amidst the peach trees on the grounds of an early 19th century home.
Hosted by the South Carolina Department of Agriculture’s Certified South Carolina program, the dinner is a celebration of fresh local flavors. As a 2020-21 Chef Ambassador, Chef Jason, like Anderson Farms neighbors, values local farmers and the delicious, high-quality produce, meat, and seafood they provide. For this dinner, he’ll be using Certified SC Grown ingredients straight from Titan’s fields – peaches, yes, but also peppers and much more – with additional products from other Certified SC farmers around the state.
